As one of the largest electronics companies in the world, it might make sense that Philips would look to explore advanced display technologies, including electronic motion tattoos. Unfortunately, the below concept video doesn’t exactly get me pumped for the technology:
For a video that I assume is supposed to show how tattoos might enhance a sensual experience, the whole thing comes off as cold and, as Wired puts it, “rather creepy.”
Aside from the bizarre video, the idea is cool. Going clubbing? Bring on the full sleeve tats. Got a job interview? Just turn them off. Got a tribal armband you’re no longer proud to display? Change that ink into a wicked barbed wire armband instead! (Or, something else.)
Aside from decoration, you could haveĀ bioluminescentĀ e-tattoos that display the time, tattoos that display important medical information (allergies, medications) and so on. When the skin itself becomes a means to display information, the possibilities are vast.
